Say This Before Venting…
Do you love venting?
That release of internal pressure and frustation with a good vent can be a just what the doctor ordered after a stressful day.
But, did you ever stop to think about the person you're releasing all that pressure onto?
Have you ever stopped to consider if they even have the mental or emotional capactity to handle your issues on top of their own?
In today's #nudenotes we taking a look at some simple phrases that help ask permission BEFORE you unload.
Shout out to Bobbi Borovanska whose IG post inspired these notes. If you want more insights on boundaries, healing, relationships and lots more mental health pointers. Go check out Bobbi's feed!
As Bobbi says in her post:
"Having a close friend doesn't mean we are entitled to their emotional space at all times and without warning."
We can't assume our friends and family are always open to extra emotional load. This is sometimes not avoidable, life get's in the way. These phrases may not always suit your situation but they're a good start.
Let's start to think about venting in a more empathic way, consider your 'venti' the person on the receiving end. Ensure everyone involved feels heard, cared for and take a breath to reflect on our own handling of venting.
How to you deal with venting, or being a vent-or?
