Toxic Positivity Vs Support and Validation

Is your #positivity poisoning you?

Toxic Positivity is the belief that no matter the odds, or how bad it looks, slapping on a smile and thinking happy thoughts will see you through.

While there are benefits of 'glass half full' thinking, to reject all negative emotions leads to a fake facade of false positivity. This is when positivity becomes toxic.

In these #nudenotes I'm sharing my notes on an infographic I came across on Pinterest. I think it came from an blog article by @themindsjournal.

We all know the benefits of positive thinking, improving your wellbeing and outlook on life.
BUT, it's important to deal with the negative in a honest and open way - and not just skip on through.

This fake it till you make it mentality doesn't work, it only makes things worst in the long term.
By learning how to reframe these thoughts or phrases, into more supportive and validating ones we can start to build a more constructive outlook.

Banish FAKE it till you make it.
Bring in BELIEVE it till you achieve it.

Often it's the little changes that in daily phrases and thoughts that can have the biggest impact.
